Excellent Sunday roast menu at a good price.  It arrived very quickly on a warm plate. Strongly recommend booking as the bar area was full of occupied tables.



A shame the salmon has been removed from the normal menu.

The only complaint would be that on some occasions the background music in the bar has been intrusive and too loud and inappropriate, e.g. Sunday 1st January from about 4 or 5pm onward, 4 of us were trying to have drinks and converse at a normal level but it was difficult with some kind of wailing style music played a bit too loud. I don't know who gets to choose the music but on a couple of occasions its been so loud that I had to leave the bar area to make a phone call. Sometimes its good to have some light classical or soft jazz style or swing, it would allow people to have normal conversations without having to raise our voices at each other above the music. Just a thought. I do realise most people want some background music but its best if it does not impinge on actual conversation. Last night for example I had some guests there for dinner and the bar was quite full, luckily we didn't have to do battle with any music and it was great to be able to simply converse without having to raise our voices, very enjoyable evening!



The only other issue I have was one night a few weeks ago I came down to Reception as I had forgotten to make some extra room and meal bookings for some friends, it was after 9pm but I did not want to forget to do it in the morning.

Unfortunately the night receptionist that night seemed to have difficulty processing what I was saying, and even though I reiterated the dates and number of rooms I needed to book, and although I  asked if he could make sure to email the confirmations to me, he got almost all the details wrong, omitted to book a dinner table for myself and a guest just before Christmas which the other very competent staff - young ladies - and also the tall young man who works in the bar managed to sort something out for me and my guest, the night receptionist had also added some extra accommodation dates that I had NOT requested! Luckily the daytime receptionist young ladies are extremely competent and sorted out the mess for me.

Apart from those two issues, all the other staff are just perfect and I love visiting there. it is a welcoming place to stay and to entertain my friends and guests, it has proved invaluable while I am busy trying to buy a property in London to live in, having the Club is just wonderful.

I am ex-civil service and my husband and I have stayed at the club twice in the last 6 months. We have thoroughly enjoyed both stays and would absolutely recommend this lovely club. Staff are always friendly and the rooms are comfortable.

Outstanding service and great food.

I had a Christmas meal but unfortunately, the meal was dry and we were originally given the wrong order. when I didn't finish my dessert because I didn't want to I was asked: "what's wrong with it now?" I think for a civil service club, this should be better.

Veronica was an excellent host making sure our party had a great experience for our team Christmas get together. My colleagues are now considering becoming members.
